Partying the night away~

So, yesterday I was to a gymnasium party with my best friend, and we had lots of fun! Although we discovered that there was no bus to Hillerød between 8 and 9pm, but we did get quite some fun out of the ride in the end d: When we finally arrived in Hillerød, we found out that the party was a whole other place than we had thought, so we had to walk quite a lot to get there.. But it was great- the music, the smoke.. Damn we danced like we didn’t know how to stand still! xD We’ll definitely be going to more of those gymnasium parties in the future ;D We both had our cameras with us, but we completely forgot to take any pictures- typically us! ^^; Anyway, for those of you who doesn’t know, “gymnasium” is secondary education in Denmark :3 Meaning lots of older people at the party (;

We didn’t get home before 2am, and I slept till 1pm today! And I’m still exhausted.. o.o’ In about an hour I’m going to a Christmas party arranged by Super Spar, the place where I work :3 Free food, drinks and all that (: But I have to go to work very early tomorrow, at 7:30am, so I’m not really all that enthusiastic about going /: Hopefully it’ll be fun tonight~

Online application: Slight progress?

Well, there isn’t really anything new to write about here. The only thing worth mentioning today is, that I got my English teacher to fill out her share of my application, plus I felt like shit all day long- headache and dizziness. Maybe I’m becoming sick? I hope not! But anyway, I just found out that my English teacher missed a question and forgot to sign date- typical her d: Besides that, I’ll have my mum print out the rest of the pages soon so we can sign and upload them. There’s still the problem about my late doctor appointment the 1st of December- the date where I need to have my online application done and sent in, if I want to be able to choose states- which I do! That was pretty much all I could think of right now~

Also, at Thursday we get a day at home to do “self-study”. Not that I think anyone will actually study, but oh well.. We were originally to meet at 10am because of some rescheduling, but then it turned out that our main teacher was going to take a course that day- and so there was simply no reason for us to go to school for only 45 min., so we got the day off- well, the teacher call it “self-study” as I mentioned before d:

Weekend: Copenhagen and sleepover! :D

I’ve just gotten home from a sleepover at one of my best friends. Yesterday we met up early and went to Copenhagen by train, to do some shopping. We didn’t really buy that much, just some dvd’s and such. I only bought 3 pairs of earrings for 45 kr. (9 dollars), since I’m gonna try to save some of my money for next year. We went to some kind of Japanese-looking restaurant for lunch, but it was pretty expensive, so I just bought a soda and snacked from the others XD .. but they didn’t really like their food, so no, I was not scrouning u_u;

Anyway, after that we went to some more shops, before heading home by train. When we got out in Hillerød to change train, we had to wait for half an hour, and in the mean time, Helene bought one of these small balls that you can buy in the automates for 20 kr. (4 dollars). It was from Mario I think, and she instantly named it “Prut-Sky”, which becomes “Fart-Sky” when translated to English. When we got home, we bought some ice cream and then went to style our hair and put make-up on each other. Anette made me a really cool hairstyle which I’ll try making tomorrow, if I have the time. We ate at the local pizzeria, where Gitte joined us, and after that we went home and watched the movie “13 soon 30″ with delicious Ben & Jerry’s ice cream! :D

Actually it was held as a late birthday party for Anette, but it became more of a sleepover since we hadn’t gotten her gift ready in time ^^” And I took lots and lots of pictures because I pretended to be a tourist in Copenhagen XD I just recently got home today ;3

Btw, I know I promised to tell you about the Crazy Christmas Caberet last Wednesday, but it’s many days ago now. But basically it’s a yearly English Christmas event in that’s played in the theater in Tivoli every year. Most of my class didn’t understand, simply because most of them suck at English, but I think it was incredible humorous! If I had been home in Denmark next Christmas, I would’ve definitely went to see it again!

By the way, I just realized that this was my first real post with photos in it. Looks nice, huh? Well, I’ll try to have some photos for future posts ^^

I’m now an official exchange student!

Oh. My. God. YES!!! I can now call myself 100% official and future exchange student for USA in 2010/2011! I got the email from Explorius around 6 o’clock today, but I didn’t see it before at 7 o’clock when my mum told me about it- I had spent the day with my best friend, Gitte. We had lots of fun, although we were rather tired after the Crazy Christmas Caberet with class last night (more about this in next post). Needless to say, I was overjoyed when I found the (in total three) mails in my inbox. I’ve been randomly close to exploding the last few hours, due to the big feeling of happiness inside of my chest! That’s what kept me from posting earlier- pure excitement! I am now currently going through the online application form that you have to fill out in order to receive a host family. Currently I am wondering whether or not to choose any specific states- choosing just a region costs extra money, and you can only choose three states, which I’m worried will narrow down my potential host families too much. I seriously need to figure this out, because if I am to choose three preferred states, I have be done with the application before the 1st of December, which is quite soon.

usas

Well, the last part was just a nervous ramble. I am REALLY excited! Just filling out the application randomly makes my stomach twist and turn with joy! I really do have exchange mania! Oh, that reminds me that I wrote a small article about that on ExchangeStudentWorld.com (: Anyways, I’m trying to piece together some of my letter for my to-be host family, so bye for now~

School projects about USA!

Right now, I’m sitting in school and doing my history project about the Great Depression in 1929. I finished my English project earlier today, which is the same subject. I find it quite interesting to do projects related to USA, as I am learning more and more about the history of my future host country. Not that I particulary like doing school projects, I just think it’s nice to be able to be able to choose subjects that interests me.

I have yet to receive any kind of answer from Explorius regarding my application… I’m starting to feel nervous. They accepted me at the interview back in September, so unless they’ve already gotten 80 exchange students for next year, I should be safe. Damn I hate waiting! ):

Exchange Student World

Not much have happened today. School was pretty boring, except from German- our teacher was sick so we had a substitute, who discussed the recent history of Germany with us. She’s great for a substitute, although I dislike how she kept denigrating USA and other western countries. But I guess that’s her opinion, although I strongly disagree with her…
I’m waiting, waiting, waiting for Explorius to get my application letter!

By the way, yesterday I was contacted by Oscar from Sweden. He’s making a website for all exchange students, including information, forum, articles and lots of other things. He’s only been going at it for a week, but the site is already really remarkable! If you like Cultures Shocked, then you’ll definitely like his site too (: Click here!

Application successfully sent!

yay

Yes, yes, yes! I’ve just sent my application, meaning that I’ll be signed up for the Explorius High School program 2010/2011 in a few days. After school I went to my friend’s place since she had been sick for a week, so I stayed for a few hours. After that my mum picked me up and I got my photo taken- not very successfull though, it turned out as the last one… ugly! >.<” Well, at least it’s only for their archives, I hope! I had a bit of a fight with my mum just before sending it.. She sent a mail with some questions some weeks ago, and she haven’t gotten her answers yet- I told her she could just call them directly, but nono, they HAD to answer her stupid mail -.-’

But that set aside, I’m really happy that I’ve finally been able to send my application :D I have to eat a quick dinner now and then I’ll be off to yoga ^^

Applying: I need a photo!

photo

Yes! My mom signed the applying form two days ago! We were gonna send it yesterday, but then we saw the “please enclose picture”. Damn, damn and triple damn! We didn’t have any photos of me lying around, so tomorrow I’m gonna have one taken. We really should’ve seen that sentence, then we could’ve readied a photo this week.

Yesterday my mom and I went to Copenhagen, where I got my long awaited winter boots! And then we went to IKEA, dunno why we did, really.. But I’ve found this awesome gymnasium (Danish kind of university) in Nyborg, Fyn, where you can do all of your classes in English! Great huh? So unless I get enough of English next year (not likely, haha) I will attend Nyborg Gym (: So my mom is talking about moving to a nearby island- which I think is the reason she wanted to go to IKEA. It’s actually funny- lots of countries outside Europe got IKEA shops, even Japan!

2 out of 3: English and History project done!

learn

Finally I got my English and History project done! I presented them today and it actually went pretty well. I got a straight A (12 in the Danish grading scale) in English and my teacher said that my pronouncement had improved a lot since last time- where I also got an A! Yay, that’s good to hear, especially because I’ll be relying on my English next year d: In History I got B+ (10 in Danish grading scale)- my teacher said, that if I had had something graphical for my presentation, she would’ve given me an A. Oh well, I didn’t have time for that- but I’m still pretty pleased about it all (: Next project in English and History (new project AGAIN!?) will both be about the Great Depression in 1929 in USA ^^ Now there’s only my Religion project left, and that’s due to tomorrow so I better get going~

Oh and I talked with a boy from my class today- apparently he want to go to USA next year too. I was kinda surprised, but I immediately recommenced Explorius d:

English practise by Skype

skype_logo_online

Well, today was actually quite a good day, even though it started out like total shit. I didn’t get to do my English project today because not everyone could present their projects today- so I have to do it on Thursday, when I also have to present my history project… great! <.<”

But when I came home and logged on the computer to write on my religion project, one of my friends from Bulgaria distracted me- she called me with video call on Skype and then we sat and chatted in English for over an hour! Haha, I must say I feel proud to have spoken solely English for that long d: It’s actually quite good preparation for next year! o: But after we were done, I could also feel that I had been speaking English- I had used all of my concentration in that conversation and had pretty much zero concentration left for my project, which is not so good. So I’m still trying to write it ): Anyways, it was fun talking with her :D
